Being attacked by the enemy

I was attacked by the enemy today. If you haven’t noticed by now, we live in a physical form but deal with a spiritual warfare. It wasn’t until I read the Bible that I fully understood what this meant.

Since understanding who the enemy is, I am able to quickly identify an attack. After I surrendered the attacks, I heard God call out to me to write about this experience as it was happened because these attacks happen often for all of us. We sometimes take these attacks as a way of life, but I assure you the Bible says otherwise.

The way this story all ties together is quite interesting.

Let’s back up from the enemy attack. During outdoor play time with my two younger children were riding around on their battery-operated go-cart when my daughter 7, drives over to me and says, “Mom we ran over a big pile of poo—!” Before she could finish the sentence, my nose hairs curled up due to the horrid smell of 100-degree poop coming from the tires.

Let’s be honest. I may have been a tad frustrated to clean up squished dog poop however, I did it with a cheerful spirit.

As I got close to the pile of poop which happen to be right next to her baby brothers’ sandbox, I could not believe what I was seeing.

FLIES. Everywhere. You could no longer see the fecal matter. All you saw was a massive swarm of flies.

I filled up several buckets of water from the pool and dumped it in the grass to wash the poo out after I cleaned it up. After about 5 trips to the pool and the flies not leaving, I persisted and tried something else. I figured I needed hot soapy water. Dish soap should work.

No. That didn’t work. I mean, it did not help one bit.

I could not believe these flies would not leave the fresh new squished pile of poo.

I became determined to get these flies out of here so I went to my hippie cupboard and grabbed my strongest oil blend and sprayed the ground.

Instant relief. Flies be gone. A few more buckets of hot soapy water with some hippie remedy did the trick.

Why did you just read about flies swarming to fresh squished poop? Because it fits with what happened to me a few hours later.

You see, I had a major revelation with a great idea and began eagerly to map it out, writing out the vision. I knew that this idea was from God. By how it feels and how it ties into everything and everyone in my life. It’s Gods perfect timing. I know this was something from God for me to act on so I did and am doing. Despite what happened next.

As I had this wonderful vision/idea, I was also attacked with thoughts like, you never did this before, it may not work, what will people think, it’s going to be a lot of work, you don’t have time to do this work, blah, blah, blah bull sheeet.

I knew these thoughts didn’t serve me, or make me feel good so I was aware I was being attacked with fear and doubt. The enemy thinks I might fall for the fear thinking mindset like I once used to.

As the thoughts came, I surrendered them just as fast. I handed them up to Jesus. I will say in my head or sometimes out loud, “Lord Jesus, please take these unclean and untrue thoughts from me. Remind me of the truth.”

Just like the flies that swarmed to this fresh new pile of poo, the enemy like the fly will swarm to you when God is calling to you.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”  Isaiah 41:10

I was persistent with ridding of the flies, you too will need to be persistent in ridding the enemy of his lies. Always be reminded of the truth.

“For the LORD your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.” Deuteronomy 20:4

As soon as you feel false lies, you fall out of the truth – the truth of Jesus. The more you practice ridding the enemy the easier it becomes. As soon as you feel yourself being pulled – rebuke those feelings and emotions. Cry out for Jesus, if you must.

Claim Jesus in the mist of the attacks from the enemy and you will prevail. Learning to do this takes daily practice when we are faced with the enemy attacks.
